MSD 10K FAQs
When is the Market Square Day 10K
The 10K is the kickoff to the Market Square Day Festival which takes place on the second Saturday each June.
How can I participate?
You can register online (on Rules & Registration page) or download the PDF and submit a paper registration form (we'll post this in April).
Can I run without a bib?
The short answer: no. Running without a bib (Bandit) OR running with someone else's bib is a safety issue as a bib/number carries with it important information for race organizers, health and security officials.
The race registration is capped at 2,100. We do allow for bibs switches - that process is noted on the registration page; all switches must be coordinated through Pro Portsmouth.
Where is the start line?
The race begins in front of the North Church at Market Square in Downtown Portsmouth.
What is the course like?
Our 10K winds its way throughout Portsmouth - Downtown, various neighborhoods, ending at Strawbery Banke Museum. There are straight-a-ways and hills and the typical challenges of a longer race requiring the type of stamina you get by training for a longer race!
Are there water stops?
Yes, we typically have four stops along the race route.
Do you offer storage for personal belongings? Will we have the ability to access post-race showers?
The short answer to both is no; we do not have the facilities to offer showers or storage.
Where is the finish line and hospitality area?
The finish line is on Marcy Street - Prescott Park is to your right, Strawbery Banke to your left. Food and beverages are available under the Hospitality Tent on the museum grounds at Strawbery Banke.
Where can I see results?
Live results are available at the Hospitality Tent.
When do you give out awards?
Overall winners as well as age group winners, are announced at the Hospitality Tent at approx. 10:30am.
Top award winners' checks are mailed out to them following the race.
