Seacoast Series Rules

2012 REGISTRATION INFORMATION

GENERAL SRRS RULES/INFORMATION:

YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THE SEACOAST ROAD RACE SERIES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SERIES. You can register for the Seacoast Series until July 29th. Late registration is not permitted under any circumstances. If you do not register for the Seacoast Series, you cannot qualify for any of the awards, even if you have completed the required races.

IMPORTANT: The Seacoast Series scoring software compares data between the Seacoast Series registration database and the results' file from each participating race, including first and last names, gender, age, and home town. If there is not a perfect match, you won't get Seacoast Series credit for that race.

Please - register for each race in the SRRS using the identical name you use when you register for the Seacoast Series (if you use 'David' on your SRRS entry, don't use 'Dave' on race entries). If your home town changes during the Seacoast Series season, let us know right away. Don't worry if you have a birthday during the Seacoast Series season - the scoring software accommodates a 1-year age increase.

We send updates and reminders to all participants during the Seacoast Series, so make sure we have your correct email address. When you register online for the Seacoast Series, you will receive a confirmation email within a few minutes. If you not receive that email, you either did not input your email address correctly, or you did not properly complete the registration process.

TO EARN THE JACKET OR AN AWARD, YOU MUST COMPLETE 6 OF 8 RACES; TWO MUST EXCEED 5K IN LENGTH; WE OFFER TWO 10Ks, ONE 8K/5-MILER AND FIVE 5Ks.

THE SEACOAST HALF MARATHON IS OUR BONUS RACE AND CANNOT BE COUNTED AS ONE OF YOUR 6 OF 8 RACES.

The Series' scores should be updated on this website (see menu to the right) within 7-10 days following each SRRS race, so please note this…

It is each runner's responsibility to check their scores for accuracy after each race. The Seacoast Series scores are distinctly different from the race results that you may find on CoolRunning. Having a time posted on CoolRunning does not mean that you have a Seacoast Series score for that race. Please - get into the routine of checking your SCORES after each participating race.

With over 1,000 people competing in the Seacoast Series, it is impossible for us to check the accuracy of each person's scores after each race. Thus, we need you to help us ensure that your scores are accurate and complete.

If you are not given points for a race you believe you should be credited for, please inform us immediately
. The sooner we learn about a scoring error, the better the odds that we can correct it. Some errors, if not reported promptly, may not be able to be fixed.

We finalize scores (typically) in early November; the jacket order is then placed. Once this occurs,
we cannot make any adjustments/additions as extra jackets are not ordered.

SRRS top awards will be announced and distributed at the final race in the SRRS, the Great Bay 5K.

THE JACKET!:
After the final race in the SRRS, you will be asked again (via the SRRS web site) to check your scores for errors. We will allow 2 weeks for corrections, the results will be finalized and SRRS jacket order will be placed.

The SRRS jacket will be available for pick up at Runner's Alley in Portsmouth (104 Congress St) 6-8 weeks after the scores are finalized. The jacket pick-up dates will be announced on the SRRS web page.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: We do not mail the jacket - all jackets are to be picked up at the
Portsmouth location of Runner's Alley.

There is no charge for entering the Series; individual race entry fees will still apply.

The Rules of the Series:
To qualify for the Participation Award, you MUST:

Register for the Seacoast Series by July 29th, and enter and compete in at least 6 of the 8 Seacoast Road Race Series races, including at least 2 exceeding 5K in length (we offer 2 10Ks and 1 8K/5-Miler). You must finish each race and receive an official time for your participation to be counted.

All eight SRRS races have added a race walker category to the mix. You will need to check off this category on each individual race application in order to be tracked as a race walker. For the purpose of the Seacoast Series, you will have to decide to run or walk all of the Seacoast Series races. Unfortunately, our scoring software cannot combine scores from one category in some races and the other category in other races. (So, if you signed up for the Series as a runner, competed as a runner for three races and a walker for another three, the system will not combine the scores and you will not be eligible for a jacket.)

Each entrant who earns a Participation Award will receive a custom, Seacoast Road Race Series jacket.

The 3 overall fastest male and female runners in the Series will each receive trophies, in addition to their Seacoast Series jacket. Additionally, the top finishers (male/female) will receive $100.

The top competitive walkers (male/female) in the Series will receive an award, and the top age group winners (runners only, male/female) will receive awards. The winners will be determined on the basis of how the runners/walkers place in each Series race. To earn an award as a competitive walker, you must register for and compete in at least 6 races (including 2 races longer than 5K) as a walker. If you register for a race as a walker and are found to have run, your Seacoast Series score for that race will be moved to the runners' section. You may compete in some races as a walker and others as a runner and still earn your Seacoast Series jacket, as long as your race total meets/exceeds the minimum requirements. Each race in the Seacoast Road Race Series will have competitive walking/racewalking divisions. Check each races' web site or entry form for details.

We currently recognize Seacoast Series age groups for awards (runners only). The age groups for the Seacoast Series will be: 14 and under; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+. Special awards will go to the top male and female scorers in each age group who have completed the minimum required races.

Scoring: A first-place finish (among Series entrants) in each participating race will earn 1 (one) point; a second place finish will earn 2 (two) points, and so on. The winners will be the runners and competitive walkers with the lowest total score.
The age group winners will be those men/women with the lowest total scores in their age group.

If an entrant completes all 8 races, his/her 6 best finishes will be counted toward the awards, however all race scores will be posted on the Seacoast Road Race Series' web site.
